Leading Experts Nigel Morley MRPharmS The author, Nigel Morley, is a freelance independent registered pharmacist and is considered to be the leading expert in dispensing doctor dispensing and prescribing. He provides advice, training, consultancy, financial modeling and research papers to and for academic institutions, Strategic Health Authorities, Primary Care Organisations, individual medical practices and the pharmaceutical industry. His team also has specialised pharmaceutical software and websites relating to drug purchasing, drug formularies and other aspects of the prescribing and dispensing interface; they are leading trainers of dispensing doctor dispensers, managers, GPs, nurse prescribers and PCO Pharmaceutical and Medical Advisers. They provide clinical training for pharmacists. Nigel’s activities also include organising and running of medical and pharmaceutical conferences and workshops and medical journalism, especially his own monthly Dispex newsletter, and telephone help-line for GPs in general and dispensing practices in particular. He has been instrumental in instituting tutorial practice visits to assist practices in producing guidelines and protocols concerning their repeat prescribing procedures and for dispensing practices additionally, their dispensing procedures. Nigel and his team are at the cutting edge of development and production of formularies and SOPs for individual medical practices, PCOs and Strategic Health Authorities. The formularies and SOPs are produced for both dispensing and prescribing practices and reflect the needs of the individual practice or group of practices. He is also an Expert Witness on a number of topics and member of the National Controlled Drugs Forum. Nigel can be contacted via enquiries@surelines.com John Gerrard John retired from the Home Office in 2003 having spent the last 20 years as the Senior Inspector of the South East Region of the Home Office Drugs Inspectorate. The Inspectorate was responsible for policing the licensing regime for controlled drugs and investigating instances of irresponsible prescribing by doctors. In carrying out those duties he gained an extensive detailed knowledge and interpretation of the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and associated Regulations Mohammed Ibrahim In
addition to this, Mohammed specialises in advising dispensing doctors
in raising dispensing standards and maximising the efficiency of the
dispensing process. He is passionate about education and enhancing
patient care. He heads up
a team of NVQ trainers and Assessors and provides a range of
educational services. Mohammed
was one of the first pharmacists to qualify as a supplementary
prescriber and subsequently was one of the first pharmacists to
qualify as an independent prescriber and he holds a clinical diploma. Mohammed has won many national awards for his innovative work in pharmaceutical healthcare. He has excellent practical knowledge of the Controlled Drug regulations and has been commissioned by several primary care trusts to undertake controlled drug audit and reviews at NHS contractor practices these include: dispensing and non-dispensing GP practices, community pharmacies, community dental practices, and residential and nursing care homes.
